aefibird Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Another no-no - multi-coloured gi's, especially the monstrosity I saw being worn at the last tourney I went to. Red, blue and yellow with black stripes down the sides, all topped off with a camouflage coloured belt. Yuk! "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." battousai16 Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 ^good lord...^ to that end, just about any uniform in the century catalogue... gah! "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Mu Ryuk Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 ^good lord...^ to that end, just about any uniform in the century catalogue... gah! I'm with you there! This is a bit off the topic, but just kind of funny... A Quiznos just opened up practically right next to our Dojang...there is nothing so amusing as a giant soda cup with the word "Quiznos" printed on it walking in front of your Dojang when you're trying to train...except maybe when it walks by during the kids class!! Oh the fun we could have, checking if that cup has enough padding to withstand a good Flying Side Kick...heh heh heh Passion transcends pain.
smktkd Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 anything that is not the white or the white and black or the black uniforms out of century magazine, lol A Song Moo Kwon Tae Kwon Do Brown Belt
battousai16 Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 heh, the century uniforms remind me of that great grounds keeper willy quote: "ya see, the kilt was just for day to day wear. in battle, we wore a full sequins ball gown. the idea was to blind your opponent with luxury!" "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Flying Tiger Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 I've actually worn ninja boots to the mall. They were very comfortable, by the way. I am proud of my clothing decisions! The greatest clarity is profound silence.
Red J Posted October 4, 2004 Author Posted October 4, 2004 I've actually worn ninja boots to the mall. Did you sneak up on any sales? You never know where the next fashion trend will come from. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
delta1 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 'Ninja Boots" are called 'tabi', and the ones you get from the ma catalogs are a cheap version of the work boots Japanese men wear. I have a pair, but the only place I've worn them is to church. What should a martial artist not wear...? Well, in one Kali class I visited some guy showed up wearing a red bandana on his head. Besides getting told off, some of the senior students really teed off on him in sparing! (For those not familiar with the FMA's, a red bandana means you've survived a few death matches- something they were pretty sure this guy had not done ) Oh yeah, in case you're wondering, it wasn't me. Fortunately, when I went to the ranch supply store, all they had was black, lavender, and teal. I chose black! So, I got to learn that lesson at someone elses expense! Freedom isn't free!
scottnshelly Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I think Martial Artists should not wear camoflouge or pink belts. it's usually kids that i see wearing those, but you know that an adult had to have given it to them.

Well, it started out as a white belt until mom did the wash... Actually,we used to use a pink belt as warning/punishment for students who started fights. The would get one warning, a night wearing the pink belt and lining up behind, even the white belts, and if they did it again, then they were asked to leave the school. I only saw one person ever wear the pink belt. Student: "Why did you hit that guy with a chair? Why didn't you use your karate?"Master: "Hitting him with a chair was the only karate I could think of at the time."Lesson: Practice until you don't have to think.
