id recommend against doing more than one style, with the exception that they are different areas of fighting (such as one striking, another grappling.) see which school you like the best, try to judge which will teach you how to fight better, and go with that.

9 miles away!?! Id rather go shotokan then. 9 miles isnt worth it half the time, you would ride bus for like hours... Unless the shorin ryu teacher is really really good and much better then the shotokan, id go shotokan.

Isn't the most important thing a style that works for him and a good Dojo though...?

 

9miles doesn't take that long to get to on bus :P Maybe walking...

in one year i will go to to a dojo that does not have * and stuff like tiger schulmanns karate that i really seem to like that i knew of a long time ago. i just forgot about that place. oh well now i have to go to tsk cause i already paid for it. its not that bad i guess

Ugh! How much did you pay, and did you sign a contract? I think you'll find the 'extra' charges to be really friggin' annoying.
