martialartsresearcher Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 hi guys. has anyone else ever heard oog kung fu? it uses takedowns and ground-fighting.. anyone else know about this? thanks guys. see ya.
Shorin Ryuu Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I've only heard a few references to it in my readings, mainly hat an opponent is pulled to the ground, scissored and kicked, so it must be a very close-in type of style. I think one trademark of the style is to ride out an opponent's throw and attack them. Like I said, I only know it through references here and there (like so-and-so was a dog boxer and he liked to do this...). Martial Arts Blog:http://bujutsublogger.blogspot.com/
SevenStar Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 it's called dog boxing. There are a few bits and pieces of info about it on the net, but not many.
Ali Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Yes, this really exists. Shaolin Dog Style is something about ground fighting, rolling on ground to throw kicking, scissor kick to take you down but please dont mix up with BJJ Darkness grants me pair of dark black eye,Yet I determine to look for Brightness
wing chun kuen man Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Shaolin dog boxing is also known as Fukien or Fujian, ground boxing. As far as I know it is a southern chinese system and is also known as Di Long Chuan. The system is based on the movements of the dog. All I know is that it involves a lot of ground fighting/"wrestling" techniques and take downs combined with punching and kicking strikes many of which are performed by the exponent while he is still on the ground. Wing Chun Kuen Man Real traditional martial arts training is difficult to find.....most dojos in the west are Mcdojos....some are better and some are worst....but they are what they are....do you train in one?
Drunken Monkey Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 ..i still can't figure out what the chinese name for this is. i keep hearing about it but apart from the english name of 'dog boxing' i have no clue. the 'di long chaun' doesn't make sense to me. ground dragon fist/boxing? falling dragon fist/boxing? ground hole fist/boxing? anyone know what it's supposed to be? post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
wing chun kuen man Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 For those who are interested dog boxing is more commonly referred to as Gouquan or Kou Ch´uan depending on the dialect. Drunken Monkey Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 now that kinda makes more sense... except now i have to say that i've never heard of it before i came here. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
