Shorinryu Sensei Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 XMA is a prime example of how the Western world has completely bastardized the martial arts. Simple, direct, and well said IMHO. Maybe not so much as "has completely bastardized the martial arts" but perhaps more as IS bastardizing the martial arts. A slight differance, I know. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
Luckykboxer Posted August 14, 2004 Posted August 14, 2004 i would say that is part of the western world.. I would also say that another part of the western world has improved martial arts better then anything there was before... definitely not with XMA though thats pretty much a showy theatrical thing.. hey kind of like all those chinese movies with all the flying martial artists..... the original XMA anyone? hmmm

Good point Lucky. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
Radok Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Come on people, fess up. Who chose "it's the wave of the future" on the poll? If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.
Shorinryu Sensei Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Come on people, fess up. Who chose "it's the wave of the future" on the poll? Wasn't me. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. I'll prove to you that it won't change me!"
aefibird Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 Certainly wasn't me, either! "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
Rotten Head Fok Posted August 15, 2004 Posted August 15, 2004 It wasn't me, I'm still happy riding the wave from the past. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
