The Saint Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 I'd first start with hand washing the bet in some laundry detergent (cold water) when you first get the belt. A couple of washes and the die in the belt shouldn't run an more. If it continues to run buy a better belt as suggested by someone else. dinesh Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 It was probably a very cheaply made belt. Try using TIDE detergent to get it out. Talk to your instructor and simply wash it.... I'm sure he woulnd't mind you washing it topreserve your gi , rather than " losing " all your knowledge! lol Heck my first black belt left some maks on my gi the first night, I talked to my instructor and washed it, then the belt proceeded to begin falling apart........ahah, really crappy belt. Got my Tokaido , and it never ran
AngelaG Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Yep. All my belts were good until I got my purple and white stripe belt, it was Blitz and even felt think and cardboardy to the touch. It has stained numerous do-gi. However it'll eventually come out your gi and there's not much point in buying another one for the coloured belts. I don't really care about the quality of the coloured belts, it's the black one that has to go the distance. aefibird Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Yep. All my belts were good until I got my purple and white stripe belt, it was Blitz and even felt think and cardboardy to the touch. It has stained numerous do-gi. Gah, don't talk to me about Blitz belts. I love all their MA products, except for their coloured belts. Every belt I had from them was either cheaply made or they dye came out or both. When I had my brown belt with 2 white stripes, one of the stripes partially came unstitched (so I was a brown belt with 1 and 1/2 white stripes ) A good UK make of coloured belts is Kamae, based in Chester. Their belts are cheaply priced, but are well-made and never shrink or run. I've got a silk Shureido belt now; one of the best investments I ever made. "Was it really worth it? monkeygirl Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Okay...it's not quite getting there, but let's not turn this into a belt-washing argument Just be aware that some people feel pretty strongly against it. Personally, I don't like to wash my belts, especially not my black belt since it has embroidery. I never got crazy infections or anything, and brain damage can be chalked up to pre-existing conditions Ask your instructor how s/he feels about it, and if they're cool with it, go for it. If not...use Spray 'n' Wash 1st dan & Asst. Instructor TKD 2000-2003No matter the tune...if you can rock it, rock it hard.
Rich_2k3 Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Its probably just a cheap belt, but theres no point spending a fortune on a coloured belt cuz they dont stay with u that long, wait till u get ur black and then invest abit of money in a good belt, like a delux satin belt or somthing. ShadowGoomba Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 gross . wash your belt(but don't over do it or it will fade). 1-up!
Coco Posted September 6, 2004 Author Posted September 6, 2004 My instructor told me to wash it with salt after I passed to my next belt (alredy passed a week ago). Now im half blue and half green, and I dont think this one is going to undye. Little Dragon Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 washing your belt could also cause it to shrink,my opinion is that you should keep it as clean as possible. ''I know what your thinking.........did I shoot you 3 times? or did I shoot you 472 times?''
