For me, training with another person really helps me out. I had a friend start training with me four years ago in a style and we both kept with it (starting at about the same experience level). It really helped to have someone to talk theory with, train with, and test theory against. Plus, both of us want to learn as much as possible about everything, so it helped us in our learning process.

 

The military being as it is, we have since moved to different states, but I still keep in contact with him.
