coastguard
whether or not you wear head gear is up to you... if you're not sure, its better to err on the side of caution. if you don't feel comfortable without, put it on. hawkfish
Hi Matt, I would wear the head gear myself. I'm 38, I know how hard some of my instructors and others students can punch and kick and I would like to have a much protection on my head as possible. ramymensa
I'd go with the others, Matt. Use the protection if you feel you need it and I think nobody would have any issues with it. I'd better have other give me funny looks than get kicked in the head and having all sorts of side effects. Your sensei should be OK with it .. talk to him. yamesu
id say that if you have any doubts, wear the headgear, im 22 and dont wear headgear, but anyone under 18 must wear it at my dojo. I just think that your probably better off wearing it than not.I know how hard some of my instructors and others students can punch and kick any higher grade student or instructor should moderate their force to suit the lower ranking grades level of skill, not just belt it out with them all the time. If i were contemplating this situation, id think about my different methods of evasion, parrying or blocking before i thought about wearing padding, but thats not for everyone i guess. What im trying to say i guess is that if your sparring your instructor, then be careful of the cards you pull if you cant back them up, ive seen sooooooo many people step into the ring for their 1st time and try to BELT the higher grade, only to be hit in the liver or similar because the higher grade thinks the lower grade can handle it. Just aim to be aware of whats going on the whole time. Osu. "We did not inherit this earth from our parents. We are borrowing it from our children."
