plainwhitets Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Does anyone know anything about xtreme martial arts, XMA? Is it new, or still in the process of becoming popular, and what does it involve, kicks, strikes, weapons, acrobatics, etc? Does anyone train in it already?
Luckykboxer Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 i dont think the XMA is a style as much as it is a contest. basically hollywood martial arts is the way i put it. they have an official website... https://www.xmarevolution.com
G95champ Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Based on the tv thing I saw its a team name/sponser. Its for show more or less a lot of fance kicks and flipping kata. IMO a bunch of junk. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Rotten Head Fok Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 This is another style new to me, I will look into the site provided(thanks LB) and get back. I am curious as to what their definition of extreme is. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
G95champ Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 extreme as in flips, jumps, break dancing, type of karate. extreme as in video game moves. extreme as in if you try and use what they do in demos you will get beaten up extremely bad. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
battousai16 Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 ^yeah, but at least they admit that^ "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
Scotoe Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 It seems more like a bunch of movie like stuff, I for one will not teach it. Mostly because it has a $4800 price tag for the material!! plainwhitets Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 so I guess it's safe to assume that XMA is more of performance/presentation/looking cool martial arts. Showy... Flashy... "ooo"s and "ah"s style where martial arts meets the gymnastics team. interesting
aefibird Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Mostly because it has a $4800 price tag for the material!! So as well as being unable to defend themselves in a real fight/encounter, a student of XMA would also be poor and unable to defend themselves... "Was it really worth it?
