Shane Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Look into some Jujitsu and BJJ schools, find one that will work with you, a good instructor will work with your challenges and make the style work for you. I allow my students to wear wrestling shoes in class so see if that is possible. In the ground grappling arts you spend atleast half your time on the ground that might be a bonus for you right there. gojuchad Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I also have flat feet but from your post it seems that you have a much worse case than me. I know that some kung-fu schools train w/ shoes on, I think that if you explained your situation that the teacher of any school would let you train with some kind of shoe. Good Luck, dot let this one thing stop you from training. Draw close to god, and god will draw close to you. James 4:8
Shane Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 For sure dont let this stop you from starting up training, there is something out there for you. Go visit some of the local schools and talk to the instructors and see what they have to offer you. jarrettmeyer Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 ... a good instructor will work with your challenges and make the style work for you. This is true of any style. But Shane's probably correct in saying it may be more comfortable for you to be wrastlin' on the ground. Jarrett Meyer"The only source of knowledge is experience."-- Albert Einstein
Kreisi Posted November 28, 2004 Posted November 28, 2004 The flat feet could help you for example in judo. You wouldnt slide that much. And it would be a good thing. But if you wanna start karate for example, feet could bee a problem in Kicks, because you couldn't slide your feet that much. What hurts you but doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
