AngelaG Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Hi My name is Angela. I am new to Karate Forums but I am a seasoned poster on some other forums... I see that some of the old favourites from them have already made their way here. I study Shotokan Karate in the small town of Paignton in Devon, England. AngelaG Posted July 24, 2004 Author Posted July 24, 2004 Hi Angela, welcome to KF! You don't happen to train in Shotokan with Dave Owen in Paignton do you?? I don't think there's a Dave Owen at our Club, there's a few clubs in Torbay though... for such a small place! aefibird Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Ah right. You'd have known who I meant if you trained with him - he's a club instructor. Yes, there are loads of karate clubs in the Torbay area, as I found out last month when I entered the South West Championships! "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." Rotten Head Fok Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Hi, welcome to KF ! You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
