I would have asked.

Knowing about him, his qualifications, or at least, his culture, would be on my list of learning as well as physical methods.

Imagine after one year training you take these guys to a full contact match.

TKD vs Kyukushin --> 1 to 9

TKD vs Muai tai --> 0 to 10

TKD vs shotokan --> 3 to 7

TKD vs shorin or Goju -->2 to 8

TKD vs BJJ or JJ --> 0 to 10

Not because of techniques , it because of rules they trained under. For example Matsui is a well known kyukoshin-ka he got knock down 2 times against an opponent who was hitting him in the face and he was not able to stop him, finally referee stopped the fight and disqualified the opponent but the reality is that kyukoshin fighters can’t protect their face against punches as good as MuaiTai fighters do, why, because in kyukoshin you won’t get point by punching into the face of opponent. Same in TKD ,thats why they stand side way because of pointing rules but it’s not gonna work in a full contact match.

If you don’t believe me lets hire 100 guys and see.

so basically your saying tkd is one of the ''many'' rules style?

i take tkd but i agree with you 100%.

After i got to green belt i started to think more about real situation fights rather than tournements.Since punching the face or even the stomach in a tournement wouldnt count as a point many tkd users completly forget to punch.Soon as me and my friend got into full contact sparring in our own time,it took us atleast a couple days to start punchin since we forget the use of our fists.

I also relized punches have a big effect in sparring...like those moments where u n a opponent hit shins together..both cannot kick the other so thats when u uses fists to back them off and strike as soon as they move back.

Same in TKD ,thats why they stand side way because of pointing rules but it?s not gonna work in a full contact match.

The only reason tkd people have the left n right sides are since in tournements you cant kick the back since its unprotected and doesnt count as a point if hit.
