texaskaratedo Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Does anyone use a program director for recruiting new students? If so can you share a fair compensation package that you use to pay the director? I am wanting to have someone help with program sales but I am not sure what to pay them. Squawman Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 A program director is very important. Actually, you should think about having a program director before you get any more instructors. While you are out on the floor teaching you have somebody selling for you. They can make the calls to set up lessons for new students and also help keep a good grasp on how many students are coming in and how many quit . There are many different things a program director can do and they can free up your time to focus on classes and the other bussiness of running a school. I would make it simple for paying the person. Salary and some commission from students that sign up.
CloudDragon Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 I am familliar with a school that uses a program director who is responsible for almost 100% of new students to the school. Once they come in, the instructor is there to keep them coming back. As far a compensation goes, I believe that the director gets a modest hourly wage, free training, and equipment, testing, tournament, and association fees paid for by the school. I think if you asked the instructor, he would say he is getting a great deal. Not only does the program director recruit students, but they act as an intermediary between the students and instructor. When the instructor is teaching the students can ask the program director questions about tuition, uniforms, gear, and etc.. Another thing is that a good program director will help you with scheduling, bills and billing and other business related tasks. This frees you for teaching and retaining your students. A Black Belt is just a white belt that don't know when to quit!
