Martial_Artist Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 La Ciudad de las Bestias is a young adult novel. I haven't read any of her other books, so I can't say. I just bought it two days ago. I know next to nothing about the author. So...can't say. Do her books come in english, or did you read the spanish? zerohour Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 I'm about half-way through Heretics of Dune, by Frank Herbert.
SaiFightsMS Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 I recently did a reread of Dune with a group and then read the next two Dune books and then sort of burned out on Dune.
battousai16 Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 she was the niece of salvador allenede, the leader of chile in 197...3 i think, i'm ont sure on that. but there was a big military coup and she was exiled. so because her books tie in with history, we have to read her in school. and yes, i read them in english. Martial_Artist Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Ah, a child of politics. My friend lived in Chile just after the time of Pinochet. Crazy stuff. RaidenTB Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 I'm half way trough East of Eden. When I finish that, I'm gonna drool over Shogun. I've read it sooooo many times but can't get enough. Imagination is more important than knowledge.
battousai16 Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 just shogun? does the rest of the series not do it for you? "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
RaidenTB Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Shogun is my favourite (I can have a favourite, right? ) Imagination is more important than knowledge.
battousai16 Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 well, i've never personally read them; i was just wondering is all. my dad really likes the series. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
RaidenTB Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 I haven't read them all.. Some of them sort of "disappeared" from the library I go to (so they must be good ). If you like the style of writing in Shogun, you'll probably like the rest of the books. Imagination is more important than knowledge.
