I also have been reading a collection of short stories by Ernest Hemingway. "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" is one of my faves of his.

Yes, that is an excellent short story. I read it several times before going to climb Kilimajaro and even took a book of his with me to read whilst there.

Anything by Robert Ludlum (most famously the author of The Bourne Identity which p*sses on the film version from a great height).

Half-way through The Shadow Rising (4th book in The Wheel of Time series). Though I've read the series twice before, but haven't made it as far as the 9th and 10th books yet. It's too hard to keep track of everything when there's a 2 year wait between books.

I just hope Robert Jordon doesn't die before he finally finishes the series.

Other favorites include The Deathgate Cycle, Sword of Truth, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and pretty much anything by Michael Crighton.
