granmasterchen
Hello, myself and other senior martial artists in the area are trying to get a good foundation for our association and raise some starting money to throw some tournaments, we need money for the trophies or medals or what ever. Does anyone have any nice little ideas for fund raisers? That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
Luckykboxer
hooters girls in bikinis washing cares with lots of suds.. /drools. umm but actually... check with your local restaurants, alot of times they will be willing to do a day where you get a portion of the proceeds, in exchange for you promoting them, and offering some volunteer service. car washes might be good as well. try self defense seminars to the general public. /shrug
Rotten Head Fok
Hooter girls with not so many suds breaking cars in half with their bikinis..... Or I say a good old martial arts demonstration,(some exciting forms, breaking bricks, weapons) in a park, the middle of a road, shopping center. Raffle off some lessons. Autographed pictures of your association for sale. Write your local newspaper or station and try to get some press about positive community spirit your trying to do. The resturaunt idea is good, but don't stop there, ask other businesses too. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
aefibird
When I was first looking for sponsorship for my karate club I wrote to all the local businesses in the area and pointed out to them how sponsoring our little club would be a good thing for them (publicity, the chance of helping the community and looking good for doing so etc etc). The students of the club also did sponsored bike rides, sponsored swims, etc. We also wrote to local radio stations & newspapers and asked them to feature us. We also did a demo at a summer fair and had people walikg round with rattling buckets into which people could drop donations - most people gave money. I think they thought we'd beat them up if not! Good luck with the fundraising. I know how tough it can be. My dojo is trying to scrape the cash together at the moment to send a team of kids over to California early next year for a big karate comp over there. "Was it really worth it? lyrikalgeenus
If you have a local Pizza Hut contact them because they have a great program which your dojo(s) earn 20% of the night's funds...

youremean
Get a buisiness to sponser you. This can be a local restaraunt or shop, as others have said, or it can be a martial arts equipment retailer. My friend has just started a paintball team, and a large online paintball retailer is providing him with discounted equipment in exchange for the team wearing shirts with the retailer's logo on them during tournaments.
