TheDevilAside Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I THINK WHOEVER YELLS THE LOUDEST WOULD WIN, THEY MIGHT POP THE OPPONENTS EARDRUMS AND DESTROY THEIR ABILITY TO BALANCE THEMSELVES! ... :/ "If you're going through hell, keep going." - Sir Winston Churchill
Rotten Head Fok Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 The Spectaters! You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
White Warlock Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Aye, you're right there, the spectators would win. Re: Jackie Chan - Many of the persons Jackie Chan has had on his movies are/were professionally ranked full contact martial arts competitors, including the likes of Benny "The Jet" Urquidez. Many of them have stated that Jackie Chan is, indeed, a talented martial artist. Anyway, the guy's been doing this stuff for over 50 years. Do you really think he hasn't learned anything after making over a hundred movies and worked out with some of the best of the best? Jackie Chan is humble and states he is not a martial artist, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Do not confuse humility with ignorance. Luckykboxer Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Date of birth 7 April 1954 I imagine Jackie Chan coming out of the womb, slipping past the doctor, climbing up the IV machine, doing a flip off of it onto a gourney and sliding through the hallways of the hospital screaming... AYYYYIIIEEEEEEEEE But ya i have no doubt that his athletic skills and acrobatic skills alone would make him formidibale let alone any martial arts he knows I find it very encouraging that you see athletes and actors and peopel in general being productive and active much later in life now days. For Jackie Chan to move like he does at 50 is amazing.. to see pro baseball players pitching perfect games in their 40s. to see professional fighters winning world titles in their 40s.. very encouraging indeed
White Warlock Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 lol, i could have sworn he was like 56 years old or something. My argument still stands, and you're all a bunch of n00blets! "When you are able to take the keys from my hand, you will be ready to drive." - Shaolin DMV TestIntro

Vito Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 jackie chan only manuevers crazy because he has coreographers and fifty takes to get it right. real fights are completely different. "If an injury has to be done to a man it should be so severe that his vengeance need not be feared." -Machiavelli
Luckykboxer Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 have you watched Jackie Chans outtakes, or anything on him? He is his own Coreographer. And I would be surprised if he ever takes more then a few takes to get things right. I dont know why you hate Jackie Chan so much, but i find it surprising. He has done alot to elevate the martial arts through film. He has brought as much attention to the martial arts in the last 20 years as almost anyone else i can think of, I would think that deserves some credit. I understandyou dont respect his fighting skills, but regardless I would still put him in the top 5% or more of the worlds population as a fighter, adn probably as high as the top .5% anyway you look at it it still makes him an elite fighter
Ravencroft Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 whoa vito you seriously underestimate both jackie and jet...the simple point is that those moves they do are excellent for coordinatino and both have been doing martial arts for a long time and train very hard. and whoever said they worked with the best of the best is right. movies are a great way to learn. u go thru so much coordination and reflex training not to mention get in amazing shape. tom cruise went through months of reflex sword training for the last samurai. and dont diss wushu because it is awesome. as for the orignal question. bruce lee i believe would undoubtedly win in a street fight but if they were all like 90...ill put my money on ueshiba..haha.
Vito Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 true as that is, they still have no real fighting experience, and jet especially hasnt ever trained for actual fighting (read his bio). all the moves in the world dont matter- its actual fighting skill. and im not dissing wushu so much as saying that it will not teach any of its practicioners to fight... the only preparation it would provide is getting one into better physical shape.
