CloudDragon Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 I personally found it about as exciting as dry white toast. Not that its useless, but I'm more of a meat and potatoes kind of person. If you have something to say, just say it. Maybe I just got a bad translation? A Black Belt is just a white belt that don't know when to quit!
White Warlock Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Yeppers. Have three different versions myself. Even made a gamer's website, years back, dedicated to its philosophies. Can't say it's the greatest, but definitely up there with the classics. Other greats, of course, are Sun Tzu's Art of War, Clausewitz' On War, Machiavelli's The Prince, and Ray's McDonalds Handbook (for those aspiring McDojoists). aefibird Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 I personally found it about as exciting as dry white toast. Well, I happen to like dry white toast... (not a fan of butter, lol) I also liked the book too. It's a bit of a classic and I'd recommend it - along with Sun Tzu's The Art of War. That's another of my faves. BJJShotoshe Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 I read it at the age of 15 (not much older 16 now). It was enlightening. My sensei tested me on the book, it was a required reading fro me. It was pretty good. I can't belive I made it through the whole book, I had toread it about 10 times to have some understanding of it. I was thinking about reading it again. Well, if there are any questions about it, just e-mail me, I will try to answer them. shodan - ShotokanBlue Belt - Jiu-JitsuWhoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Rotten Head Fok Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Yes, I like it , it is one of the books I study. It's helped me mentally and physically in many areas. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
