Luckykboxer
umm i am a little confused. how can you grapple and have no contact? No punches to the head i can understand, can you score with a focused shot within an inch to the head or not? I cant give you any credible strats for this without knowing all the rules. Chirath
Yes you can hit a focused shot within an inch. The contact is extremly light. Sorry I got confused.
Luckykboxer
In my experience with point sparring in the current state the following are keys. 1. - Speed wins every time. Be quick and decisive. trying to find a target open will get you second place in every fight. Decide to move and then move, let the target appear at the last second. 2. - Combinations are critical. If you throw one punch or one kick you will be lucky to win a match. same thing goes for height and depth of targets... if you always throw high shots you will be picked off and lose, if you always throw shallow weapons it will be easily timed and countered. 3. - You should already have the combinations needed to win. Use the principles of combat to allow yourself to use the weapons you know. Above all else... have fun! dont hold a grudge. enjoy the experience. and try your hardest
aefibird
Stick to combos you know. The middle of a competition is not the place to try out new or fancy stuff. Use what your instructor has taught you; stuff that you've done before and know well. You need to be fast - in and out like lightening, and not just with one technique either. Use of high-low combinations can be good too. Most important advice - relax and have fun! Hope you do well. Will it be your first competition? "Was it really worth it? Ironberg
How can you grapple without head contact. If sweeping is your definition of grappling, well...
