Rotten Head Fok Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 kchenault thanks for the link. While I was there a pair of swords ( if thats what there called) popped into my head. When I was younger a buddy and me would walk around the streets of Seattle, WA. going into all the pawn shops. I noticed these old rusty weapons hanging way up on the wall. If anyone can give me a name; Thanks ! I'll do my best to describe them. 2 to 2-1/2 ft. overall length. In a standing position, arms at your side raise your right arm at the elbow only and make a fist (thumb and forefinger being the top), imagine a handle in your fist. On the top and bottom of the handle are two flat bars going back almost to the elbow. In front of your fist a blade 3 inches wide parallel to your fist extending out 1 to 1-1/2 ft. to a point. I thought back then and I think today they are awsome and I want to learn their way. You must be stable and balanced in your foot work, if you have to use your martial knowledge in combat, your intent should be to win. If you do strike, you must release great power! The martial arts are easy to learn, but difficult to correct.
battousai16 Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 ...sounds kind of like wind and fire wheeles... in a way... it sounds like they'd have similar move sets, anyway. "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
bill gallant Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 I've been practicing Iaido, kenjutsu, Kendo and Jodo for about five years now. Note, practicing!! Three steps forward and two back. Where are you looking for a dojo? While there's not many around, you'd be surprised at what you can find. As for info, books, and videos. Again there's many places around, but we all tend to move towards a personal favorite, for various reasons. My fav http://sdksupplies.com If you'd like any help, fire away...
