Tang Soo Do Practioners?

Recommended Posts

Not surprisingly, I do the same hyung as TangSooGuy... albeit, he knows more of them than I do ;)

I've seen a few people in our Association perform Bassai Sho, a few different Sai (kusanku no sai, chatanyara no sai) the occasional nunchaku form, as well as more than a few different bong hyung that are passed down via differing lineages... Of those, I've tried to learn 2-3, but they are hard to keep in my head without constant practice.

I'm no longer posting here. Adios.

So no one else practices the fourth and fifth kicho hyung? interesting. lol.

The Korean Kicking Kata, I saw that once, it is realy interesting...

I wil list the other 2 3rd Dan forms. the first two are yuk ryo 3 and Koon Sang Kong Dae, the others are Sei Sean and Koon Sang Kong So.

like I said there are more...

The Saek Ye hyung... I am familiar with those they are like the kicho, but with kicking, right?

Any one else practice both Bassai forms? Dae and So?

Disciple,

The SaeKye hyung are more or less similar to the Kicho pattern, except with 3 kicks coming up and back.

I have an old TSD manual (by Chuck Norris) that lists two more kicho hyung. Never seen them practiced.

TSDMGK_K40,

Does your system not perform Chil Sung #2, or is that a typo?

How similar are the TSD forms of Bassai to the karate versions of Bassai Dai and Bassai Sho?

TSDMGK_K40,

It's listed there correctly.

We teach Chil Sung Ee Rho (#2) at the 8th Gup Level

Then we teach Chil Sung Ill Rho (#1) at the 4th Gup Level.

Chil Sung #1 is much more difficult, and also touches on neh gung training, which is why we introduce #2 first at the lower level.

Fairly similar. The moves are all in the same order. Some forms may have a slightly different technique or intent, but they pretty much end up in the same place. More similar than the Shorin-ryu version of Bassai that I've seen (tomari?)
