of course you can break their leg if you hit the knee hard enough. It takes only a couple of pounds to break a human bone.

I hate it when people say that, mainly because it's a VERY oversimplified answer. If the knee is bent when you kick it, for example, you're going to have to kick it much harder, as you will have to get it to straighten before it breaks. Also, is the issue of anlge - which he mentioned in his post. he asked if you could break it by hitting it from the front or back. From the front, yes, it's possible, but from the back you are not going to do it. From the inside and outside, it's possible, but harder - and it's harder from the inside than outside. So, the best bets for breaking would be kicks to the knee directly or from the outside.

And for your throwing problem....learn to punch right

If you bust a knuckle, then your punch is improper.

broken knuckles aren't only due to improper punching. it can be due to lack of conditioning. Also, when fighting a resisting opponent, it's possible for them to move, causing you to connect with the wrong part of the fist. this used to happen with boxers alot - this is why a broken pinky knuckle is sometimes referred to as "boxer's break" Alot of fighters now throw the hook with a vertical fist as opposed to horizontal to eliminate that problem.

The best place to hit someone is in the eye, because then they are your training dummy.

And as for the 'Over simplified answer' it work, does it not? Would you continue to fight with a broken leg dangling off of the end of your limb?

---Do you realize how small of a target the eyes are? And think about this, if you are close enough to hit my eyes I am in the same position to do the same to you. That being the case, you should attack what is open...not a preselected target because it will make them "your training dummy".

---The subject that he is approaching is not the fact that it works. He is commenting on the ease of application. The same goes for your above quote. Yes, you can hit me in the eye or break my knee in a fight. But do you have any clue how hard it is to get those things to happen?

There is a spot to incapacitate people and make them unconcious. Firstly, to get a feel for where it is, take yor pointer and middle fingers and place them on the side of your neck (doesn't matter which side) go about an inch and a half under your ear, and feel around until you get a pulse. This is a main artery that sends a blood supply to the brain.

Now for the strikign part. Take your pointer finger and cross it over your middle finger, now place your thumb on the bottom of these fingers for support, now if you ram these fingers into the spot you felt on your neck into that of another person, this will cut off the blood supply to their brain temporarily and make them pass out. I advice NOT to use this unless it is a true emergency, as this can also be deadly.

not that this has anything to do with anything... i just thought that this would be particularly painful :o

anyway... I would think that it all depends on the situation.. (which has probably already been stated)

if someone gets mad at me and just wants to throw a few punches around, a shot to the solar plexus to knock his wind out sounds pretty good... additional shots elsewhere if necessary

normally, I would say a groin shot is pretty safe... however, I can see how in a high energy situation, that wouldn't be noticed.. (although I've never NOT noticed it :o )

In a life or death situation? Hmm... assuming the person is unarmed and for whatever reason wants to kill me, anything around the face and especially the neck would be the first areas I'd want to attack. I guess specifically I'd think the larnyx is particularly vulnerable.
