Ive heard from an ex-boxer that when u uppercut someone under the chin the fight will instantly be over. I dont know if this is true or that your hand can break when you hit it there because i doubt it.

Without a glove, you can indeed injure or break part of your hand (mid joints in the fingers most likely). However, what he said is not incorrect, from a boxer's padded fist standpoint. Such a strike causes the brain to flop around in the skull and get bruised. It seems the brain is most susceptible to being jostled from a 45 degree angle, front and back or from a shot that causes the brain to stay in place while the skull itself moves, so a hit to the top front of the head in a diagonally downward direction, a strike to the chin in an upward diagonal, a strike to the jaw in a circular spin direction, a strike to the back of the neck in a slightly upward angle (45 degrees), or similar strikes result in the large likelihood that you'll jostle their brain, which causes the brain to shut-off in self-defense (some self-defense, eh?).

From what my uni studies tell me (Biology, Kinseology, Phisics, Biochem, etc), it would be possible to cause death from a single blow to the nose, but the probability is unlikely, too many variables like angles and whatnot, especially in a fast-paced situation.

I have doubts about the "forcing the nose into the brain" thinking. As others have said, the only way you could possibly kill someone like that would be if their head was immobilized and not able to move back with the blow, and the blow would have to be VERY hard

 

well..........the protruding section of the nose is made of cartlage, but this doesnt mean its not hard enough to injure the brain (have you ever disected a mammal? the internal organs are soft as apple sauce, and as the brain is comprised completely of Nervous tissue it is extremely suseptable to traumatic damage, ever heard of people dying of shock? i wouldnt think it would take too much damage to the brain to cause malfunction, but then again, people survive head-shot wounds and other bad head injuries, so hey.....),

 

and for the record, the nasal passage DOES lead directly to the brain, bar one cellular membrane around 1-2mm thick, thats why coke&speed junkies sniff drugs, because it can have a direct effect on the ventral-brain sections almost instantly once its past the cellular membrane. Also why chlorophyl makes you go to sleep.

 

And the victims head wouldnt have to be immobile, its basic Phisics.

 

If the instrument of attack was travelling faster than the victims neck could support movement, then the loose piece of nose cartlage IS GOING INTO THE HEAD!

 

Another thing, there is two major nerves running down the undersides of the human jaw, a severe knock to the corners of the jaw may pinch the nerves which can cause a quick onset of brain trauma, and even cause nervouse system failure. Thats where the victim falls to the ground unconsious, looking like jelly on the way down .

it will almost always break the receiver's nose on connection.

 

it doesn't always stop the fight.

 

while we're on the subject of favourite technique, my current favourite is to 'tie up' the arms (or open them depending on what's going on...) then just walk forward with front covering elbow high to either rip across throat or across jaw.

 

lots of follow ups possible.

 

or leading them to my outside gate then stepping in close to get my hand on their forehead to unbalance and to reveal throat as a target.

 

still can't believe it's a one-step move.

 

it takes 'two beats' so it's easy to interrupt though...

Best place to hit someone hard if you want to down them in one hit. Almost anywhere along the center line. That is the imaginary line drawn from the top of the head that goes right down the center. So this includes, the head, nose, chin, throat (this is a good one), chest (not as good cause its hard), solar plex (another good one), and groin.
