Lupin3 Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 Interesting comments about Yip Man. It seems like a lot of the attention here in the US goes to him, maybe because he trained Bruce Lee for a while. At any rate, your comments have really reinforced the positive view I had on Lau Sifu. Thanks!
wing chun kuen man Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Lupin3, Glad that the info was helpful however, I do believe that you can get a lot out of Yip Man Wing Chun if you find an authentic sifu. But, as I have said before it is not the complete style as taught on the mainland of China. I hope that all goes well with your interview. Wing Chun Kuen Man Real traditional martial arts training is difficult to find.....most dojos in the west are Mcdojos....some are better and some are worst....but they are what they are....do you train in one?
Drunken Monkey Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 hmm, never heard anything about yip man wing chun being regarded as 'not real' in china.... anyway, you mentioned (in passing) 'yong chun'. that is just how the name is pronounced in mandarin. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
