jumpropes?

although this might sound a little stupid, i'll give it a go

 

what do i have to know when i buy a jumprope? what is the ideal lenght for me (i am about 176cm)? what material do you prefer? are there any real differences between jumpropes?

Ideal length should be , if you stand on the middle of the rope, the handles should be at armpit height. I prefer a good leather rope. Everlast makes a pretty good rope.

Do you guys suggest leather because of the quality of the material and so it wont fray or wear out as fast? Or is there another reason why leather is popular. I was looking at the 3 dollar jumprope with wooden handles - im a college student so obviously the money is gonna make some kind of difference

I have a fabric one with rubber handles that I use at home. It cost me about £2.50 and I've had it almost 5 years. It's still going strong and shows no sign of wearing out, even though I use it on a regular basis. As long as the rope is the correct length for you, that's more important than what it is made from IMO.
