Recently my Brazilian Jiu-Jistu class has been studying the Judo Finishing Hold. There is a way to get out of it, so I am told by my instructor. He cannot remember how to escape. He said he had notes on it from the Gracies, but he is unable to find them. Does anyone know a website or anything that I can look at pictures or read a discription on? Or can anyone tell me? I would really respect your guidence, even if it is only a little piece of info. Thanks!

What exactly is the Judo Finishing Hold? Can you give a Japanese name for it?

BJJ - Black Belt under John Will (Machado)

Shootfighting - 3rd Degree Black Belt

TKD - Black Belt

Judo finishing holds are the same as BJJ finishing holds. The set up isn't as prolonged due to the rules of judo, you have to fight/be aggressive or the contest is restarted but all the subs are the same.

Sho-ju, we're not talking about any old Judo finishing hold, but The Judo Finishing Hold!

BJJShotoshe,

Could you please be more specific? There are many Judo finishing holds out there in the Kodokan judo syllabus.

Could you at least give a technical description to clarify?

Thanks,

The Best that I am able to do is this...

When the person is attacking, they put thier right hand under thier opponents head, the attacker sits on their right side and puts thier right leg up to the opponents head grabbing the oppenents right hand (the hand that is closest to the attackers leg) the attacker pulls the opponents arm accross thier stomache. *the legs are positioned like so: the right leg is lying flat, but bent..the left leg is propped up* now, the arm that is accross the attackers body is pinned there by the attackers arm (between the bicep and the left quad musle). That is pretty much all i can say about it, sorry it wasn't better.

Judo 101

Push toward uki (person pinning you) with all your might, even use your free hand to push the back of uki's head. Create space under uki, grab uki's belt as you slide you hip under his. Turn hard the other way bring uki across your stomach following him you'll end up in side control.

A bit common so he'll probably suss what your up to but here.

As he tries to complete the pin use the forearms closest to him to press against his neck and create some space. Then scootch your hips away so you can get on your side.

Then if you are flexible you may be able to bring your leg up towards your chest on hook his headfrom there you can push him down into an armlock juji-gatame.

Up heres a link I found that may show it better. Doesn't show the lock though

http://bjj.org/techniques/intheguard/kesagatame/

Alternatively when you have your space, you can hook the leg over his and move so you are on top

(why you move your hips). He'll try to keep you in a head lock but you use your arm (with another to support it) to drive you weight on his neck until he has to loosen his grip, then take his arm from around your neck and fall back into the lock again.

Damn I suck at desribing this stuff...hope it helps though heh

Mind, body and fist. Its all a man truly needs.
