47MartialMan Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 And what might that Mopar have for a powerplant? Are you a "fellow" Moparian?
ZR440 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Nope, but I love the old Detroit engineered musclecars. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
ZR440 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 I'm mostly a GM follower (Chevelles, Trans Ams, W-Series Olds), but appreciate anything that has a high lift cam and a mean set of gears. Previously working in a body shop I've helped restore numerous classics even as old as a '29 Model A. I don't do that too much anymore, but I am getting my '85 Buick GN closer to being on the road. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
47MartialMan Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Ah yes, my brother had own a 69 Chevell Supersport with a 396. To which he had "handed it down" to me. After six months, I "totaled it" The 1970 Charger, is a Charger 500 series. Matching numbers. Roght now, I had to set her up for a resto. She has a 383 HP, 4bbl. Pistol grip 4speed-Sure Grip rearend. Now don't frown, yes I wouldnt mind a 440, or even the bad Hemi. Last apprasal I got from a respected Mopar guy, well known through National Mopar owners, was that the 383HP was NOT standard in that year Chrager 500. it was special ordered. Now get this, I had traced to the orginal owner whom purchased it new in Kentucky. he said for insurance reasons, he had ordered the "smaller" block" Good, thing, cause I am told I have a even rarer animal. Nah, she is not for gunnin but some funnin. Me and a bud is mixing ideas to soup up a cuda. We trying to determine whom will finally own her. He does, but is looking to get rid of it. Another bud has a original Olds 442 Pacecar!!!!!
ZR440 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 As for the totalled Chevelle SS, you may go to a hot place in your afterlife for that. Oh yeah, only a 383. I'm still jealous. I needed to buy a nice car years ago before auctions like Barett Jackson started a domino effect on car values. Jeez, even the plain jane Cutlass is outa my price range now. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
47MartialMan Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Nah, I can get a 455 442 right now for $2,800-running and restored. Swivel diamond tucked bucket seats and a 4 speed. Ready to show and go. Well show, it may have a few flaws, but had won some shows.
ZR440 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Everyone in my state thinks they're sitting on a pot of gold. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
DLopez Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Now don't frown, yes I wouldnt mind a 440, or even the bad Hemi. Oooo! The Hemi's were nice and exotic, especially in their heyday, but many a 440 could put it all over the hemi's on the street! They just didn't get the same notoriety that the hemis did. Funny that a hemi-powered Mopar classic is more desirable than one with a 440 in it. DeanDahn Boh Nim - Black-Brown BeltKuk Sool Won"Dream as if you'll live forever.
