??? You realize, of course, this is a felonious action? Seriously, you're there to learn, not to be mutilated.

Who do you learn from, the yakuza?

Anyway, I learned with wooden ones back in the day because my instructor wanted me to "learn from the school of hard knocks." I hit myself a few times, but haven't done that in years. Very self-correcting. The only warning I would have is that some people do have a tendency to totally butcher their technique, moving every which way but the right one to try and avoid being hit, which usually ends up making them hit themselves more often.

Yeh, it sounds bad but i think it was good for my pain thesh-hole. My sensai belives that i must be trained under real circumstances and i guess i belive that to.

Belive me as much as you might think, Being stabbed in the hand with a razor sharp sai isn't as bad as you would think. It's mainly just shock.

Thank goodness you're using real nunchuku. Padded ones bounce and when you switch to real you don't know how to use them.

The game of chess is much like a swordfight; you must think before you move.

Yea, if you think that someone stabbing you with a sai is going to do anything for you except give you tetnis then you have been decieved. The very best sai artists in the world didn't need to be stabbed just like the very best rock climbers in the world didn't have to fall clear off a cliff, so why should you? What is the point of a martial art if you end up hurting yourself more then the people who you are learning to defend yourself from? Think about it, you're kind of defeating the purpose here.

The only two things that stand between an effective art and one that isn't are a tradition to draw knowledge from and the mind to practice it.

Your sai have razor sharp points? Like a dagger?

Were you saying the stabbing was accidental (physical form of turret's syndrome?) or intentional? I'm confused...

I practice with a live sword...I cut my couch this morning, and my wife made me go outside. She's still afraid I'm going to cut myself.
