Chi Development=Mental Concentration to Psych out...

Show me a Chi master taking punches to the neck.

I'll show you a guy whom conditioned his neck, and you can visually see.

Also a punch to the neck is not as penetrating as other strikes, and objects for that matter.

Same with that "spear to throat trick"

If is Chi is so master, let me demonstrate on him.

Stop believing and start thinking....

This is a good example of why I don't usually bother to discuss qi. Stop posting and start training, experience it instead of expounding on it. The only way you are going to know it is to feel it, and the only way you are going to feel it is to train it with an open mind. If all you do is watch demonstrations, you'll never know, and anything you say on the subject is pure speculation. Goes for everyone, not just the author of this example.

It's after 1:00 AM. I must really be tired to come here and post. Should know better.

Freedom isn't free!

delta1,

From doing exhaustive reserach, which I had been for decades, I started posting to take a break from a lot of things. Soon I will return to routine. Then, you will "see" less of me.

I have opened mind many times, as it was crudely closed upon my discoveries.

And up til now, it is "specualtion", from my experiences, that it exists.

My mind is still open, if you read my last lines on the subject:

Well, you vertainly raise a raough.

Palm striking bricks....brought my own....Bottle bursting....brought my own......2x4 wood into his abdoman, I brought a bat...he didn't allow me to strike him in the neck(not with the bat-bat was for his 2x4 in the abdoman gig-if his "Neck Chi" was so good, he should have taken a bat strike in that area anyway)......he turned me down on all.

Yes, those are generally stage-tricks. There certainly are body-conditioning qigong (Golden Bell comes to mind), and I have an aquaintence or two that would be happy ot have you hit them with a sledge-hammer, but I really don't call those "chi demonstrations", though to some extent they *can* be.

If you are talking about "crushing bricks on a flat surface"... I've not seen it yet either that I could validate.

This is one of many demos I had attended over decades. I had documented many more. I am not saying these people did not have any skill, they had conditioned themselves mentally and physically to perform, but it was not from Chi. Their concentration and the physical areas they had developed allowed them to only perform in those areas. They could not perform other demos, that other "performers" did. And vice versa. They all had mastered a specific demo/performance(s).

This is very true... and very common unfortunately. Many of them would loose even the iron they had if you just blew in their ear before hitting them.

My school does have qigong body contitioning... it's done with no hitting to contidiont (there's lots of hitting to test). We've had people ask about it and demonstrated it by letting *them* hit someone.

Similarly, the neck conditioning happens from the exercises... wheather one wishes to call this a chi trick or a isometric conditioning, I don't wory about it too much. I'm more interested in results than labeling.

That's why you won't see me poffering them up as examples... even though they may be.

if you were to ask me to explain what 'chi' is i would tell you that it is simple body mechanics and breathing control (which leads to calmness of mind.....)

At the risk of being repetitive... some things associated with chi are indeed... others are not.

The best way to find out about chi is to find an AUTHENTIC Chi Kung teacher and take some classes with him for at least a few months if not years. Discussing chi in a public forum becomes pointless as everyone has differente ideas to what it is based on their own experiences and beliefs.

True.. but they can be rather hard to locate... and not all of them teach it.

J.L.,

Wish you were nearby.

Anyway, my continued words:

My book(mind) is still open until I find such a "master".....

Until then I can still hold some doubt or skepticism.

BTW, hope your family or friends keep safe.....if you're in Florida.

In Louisiana....WE know about Hurricanes...

At least, unlike Tornadoes, Earthquakes, and other natural disasters, you can see a Hurricane coming.

Again....be safe and peace

Thanks, I'm just outside Tampa... sometimes we have been in the path of this one, sometimes not. Though it looks like a worst-case for me is a iht by a cat 1... not fun, but I'm out of the flood zone and in a well-bulit house.

And there's another TS in the Atlantic set to become a major hurricane... tracking farther south than this one.

In movies Ki is always a super power, which fighters use to make magic.Pretty weird ha?

What hurts you but doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

I would like to know also what ppl have seen (not in movies) real life. I have heard lots of stories but seen nothing. So what kind of inner energy do ppl have?

have you ever heard a story about rattle snakes striking? they usually lead some kind of purple lightning (those that have seen rs's strike have said this) as they strike. Joe Lewis is said to have led this kind of energy before he struck someone. another joe, from karate, also known as "fighting Joe" has had photos made where he led this energy from his hands in tournament bouts.

for others it is blood control: which allows them to heal rapidly, or heal others, or not get injured at all.

others still can force their bodies to do unusual things via mind over matter.

the best example of external qi for fighting comes from a hung gar sifu who could bruise his students from across the room. he teaches a staff form in which this principle is developed.

i have heard that an american was mugged and durring the mugging his brain was pulled from his skull with a claw hammer. the doctors were able to save his life and get the brain back into the skull, but he was completely paralysed. the doctors said he'd never move again. after a few months with a qiqong tui-na specialist he was walking, albeit in halted steps. about a year after starting with this qigong practicioner he had a driver's license. the healed paralytic lives near roanoke, va.

Mind over matter.....it is just easier to say Chi/Ki...

I have seen, been taught, and found Chi Kung or other Demos to be fake or staged. A lot of Chi demos are parlor tricks and simple physics.

Of course I still keep researching Chi and look for people to maintain other opinions.

indeed, there is a bit of showmanship involved in parlor tricks, isn't that how the parlor thing got started...?

like the spear bending neck thing. blunt spears, flexible wood.

however, the ten minute mule team strangulation trick either with ropes an inch thick or chains is a little beyond parlor stunts and simple physics.

so is over comming the inertia and momentum of a moving locomotive to stop it immediately. i know a little about physics... and statistics...and the order of entropy required to do this is nothing short of a reversal of the natural order. yet someone manages to do it every couple of years in mainland china.
