DownwardSpyral Posted June 6, 2004 Posted June 6, 2004 I need help re-wrapping the handles for my sais. I'm using reinforced cloth used for wrapping the handle of a katana. Any suggestions or information is welcome. Thx
cathal Posted June 6, 2004 Posted June 6, 2004 Just to ensure its tight and not fraying, don't want anything getting caught up or falling off; but you're probably already aware of that. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
tommarker Posted June 6, 2004 Posted June 6, 2004 I've seen tightly wound string, leather wrap, and even cloth sport tape. Sport tape works surprisingly well for grip retention, but it gets messy/gooey after a bit and you have to change it. I think it also tends to dry out the hands and rub them a bit raw. But the best bet is to wrap it as tight as possible. I'd try to use a vice if possible. I'm no longer posting here. Adios.
DownwardSpyral Posted June 8, 2004 Author Posted June 8, 2004 after i get it wound tight, how do i tie it off without getting some large knot on the end?
SaiFightsMS Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 Try running the end under the last couple of rows of wrapping. And then use a coat of nail polish to hold it in place.
DownwardSpyral Posted June 11, 2004 Author Posted June 11, 2004 hm. id never had thought of nail polish. ill give it a try. Would some form of industrial adhesive work better?
SaiFightsMS Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 If it is somthing that will dry with a thin finish and not become tacky during heat or in contact with sweat.
