cathal Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 Good luck, Ant! Ant Posted June 4, 2004 Author Posted June 4, 2004 Thanks, I am a bit hard of hearing so I'm used to asking people to repeat themselves I've jsut thought it's not my first ever grading, as I took one many years ago and double graded to 8th Kyu this is my first JKA one though and the first one for about 16 years. ramymensa Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 So you're used to the emotion You'll have to put all things aside and focus only on yourself. Imagine there's no one in the room and make sure you don't train in the previus class. I have a very unpleasant memory regarding my 8th kyu test, the night before I was training like a mad (wo)man and got 2 sprains on my leags .. one for each. Needless to say I suffered like a dog. I took my rank, but i could have lived without the "pleasure" of a double injury. Make sure you eat and sleep OK and drink plenty of water. We are waiting for news. Good luck World Shotokan Karate
Ant Posted June 4, 2004 Author Posted June 4, 2004 Thanks. I was really looking forward to the class before the grading, I usually train on Tuesday's and Thursdays but there is a one hour class before the grading. Do you think I should not take part in this? Even if I take it easy Orpington Shotokan Karate Club

aefibird Posted June 4, 2004 Posted June 4, 2004 Good luck with your grading! I'd take part in the class beforehand if I were you - it will help you to warm up, relax and concentrate on your techniques rather than possibly worrying about the grading. "Was it really worth it? Ant Posted June 4, 2004 Author Posted June 4, 2004 Thanks everyone. I will take part in the lesson before. I'm pretty good at being calm about things now. Years of therapy have seen to that Orpington Shotokan Karate Club
Sico Posted June 5, 2004 Posted June 5, 2004 I've never seen ANYONE fail their first grading. Unless you fall over unconscious during the exam, you'll have nothing to worry about.
