I have never had a problem kicking jodan in my gi pants. regardless of how much i sweat. and i tend to sweat quite a bit.

let me put it in perspective. In my TKD club, we were allowed to wear club t-shirt or tank tops (singlets). The only time i ever wore my gi, was for grading, demonstrations or black belt training (as the state head did not like the non-gi)

Didnt matter how cold it was, i wore a tank top and still sweat.

I think it sounds like a good idea. Maybe my gi is not quite the right size, but I think a T-shirt would be nice not only because it would be cooler, but also because it wouldn't ride up and require constant adjustment!

I can't imagine this happening at my dojo though. Even first-day beginners are generally offered a gi, even though it is considered ok to train in sweats and a t-shirt for the first few days. So far, everyone has decided to wear the gi.

I guess I do feel a little bit of pride though, that comes with putting the gi on, so maybe I would miss it.

Hmm. Hello. This is the floor. How did I get here?

I love my Gi as well. I have this sense of pride with it. I always take really good care of it, and lay it out nice and flat when I get home. I find the pants EXTREMELY comfortable, and even when I practice at home I wear my gi pants because it gives me so much freedom of movement.

One cool thing about wearing a gi top is that you get that really cool *snap* sound whenever you strike. I'm addicted to that sound :P

In our dojo for the summer months we are permitted to wear Tshirts of the colour of belt we are currently at.

It is a lot more comfortable.

As a matter of fact, I think the whole gi is unnecessary -- I don't mind wearing a gi, but I don't feel like I'd be losing anything if I didn't wear it. I'd rather wear shorts and a t-shirt. My only concern would be people looking up my shorts :o while i'm stretching or kicking and seeing my package. that'd be embarrasing ...

:o A quick fix for this would be UNDERWEAR... :karate:

My studio is in Soutehrn California, during the summer months it can regularly get up and into the 100F Degrees and higher.

witht he cost of electricity what it is, we run fans and leave the doors open.

TShirts are allowed.

they must be black(our uniform is black) unless its an instructor and we can red TShirts(our Gi Tops are Red)

we have tshirts with our school logos on them for sell in all sizes, including tanks, and sleeveless Ts, and long sleeves.

we also allow for those that for whatever reason cant afford it to wear plain black shirts.

if we are doing any groundwork we do require to bring the gi tops for that, but wont wear them until we get to that point.

It is just alot safer then having peopel overheat

Mate, come live in australia, in the summer, i hardly goes BELOW 100F. infact, our coldest day of winter is still usually around 60F (in the major cities that is, we still have snow in the mountains and stuff)

our dojo has one fan, and its a pedestal fan, albeit a big one, but its still only a pedastal fan in the corner. I once asked about wearing t-shirts or even short sleaved gi's and was cut off mid sentence, we cant even roll our sleaves up during kihon.
