cathal
Is the Samurai Sword the same as a Katana, or is it a different sword? Thanks .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu

Mc. Steve
Samurai used swords in a 3 blade set. Katana, the long thin sword. Wakizashi, slightly shorter and wider, and the dagger called a tanto. sAtelitte
Since you're talking about katanas, i also got a question about it Is Kendo (the art where you fight with those wooden sticks and wear some sort of armor if i'm not mistaken) the same art which eventually teaches you to fight with katanas? https://www.shaolin.be
cathal
I don't think so. I'm certain you'd want to study bushido, and not kendo. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
Rat-30
Since you're talking about katanas, i also got a question about it Is Kendo (the art where you fight with those wooden sticks and wear some sort of armor if i'm not mistaken) the same art which eventually teaches you to fight with katanas? Kenjutsu is the Art of the Sword (for use of the Katana). All the best,John

Ravencroft
yeah kendo was spawned from kenjustu...the art of japanese dueling. also is bushido an actual style i thought it was a code...but yeah another practiced style is Iaido which is the art of drawing the sword which incorporates attacks suchas the battojutsu(yes it is a real attack not just something made up Rurouni Kenshin). kendo is a good practicing art its just like a different type of fencing...if its fun and convenient go for it.
