Hey! My school doesn't teach the bo, but it's a weapon I am very interested in learning. I am planning on buying a cheap one just to start, but I need to know how to learn technique. Are there any books or videos in particular that you would recommend? Thanks a lot!

Are you looking to use the bo in a traditional manner, or to do the fancy stuff? I'm not asking to be mean, just wondering...

Traditional bo is hard to learn by yourself... Fancy bo is probably best taught by your high school's flag corps :)

I'm no longer posting here. Adios.

For competition forms check out the Total Bo series by Mike Bernardo. I have used / adapted a couple of his forms and done very well.
