What's the best or worst gig/concert/show you've ever been to and why?

Best for me = recent UK Iron Maiden show, although the Green Day outdoor gig in Manchester was a belter.

Worst = Pennywise a couple of years ago. The actual band played great, but the crowd security guys were real idiots, I ended up breaking a finger, my money got stolen and one of the friends I went with got caught up in the middle of a fight and ended up needing stitches to a gash in her eyebrow. Not the greatest of nights. :(

The worst? I guess I'd say this one time when Rice played at 924 Gilman. They were terrible, first of all, but on top of that, they brought fireworks and shot them out into the crowd. Some guy caught on fire, so the club made them stop playing and leave. Their fans got mad and threatened to fight them.

The best... There are so many. But I guess I'd say this one night in Austin, Texas, seeing the Derailers playing at the Broken Spoke. I 2-stepped my little heart out that night with every cowboy in the room. I had such a good night. I credit it as one of the best nights of my life.

Best: Donnington Monsters of Rock festival 1995... Metallica, White Zombie and some others who I cant remember 'cos I was suffering from the worst hangover in history following some home made peach snaps!! :o

Worst: A local concert from a band called Corner Shop (who later had a number 1 I think called 'Brim full of asher') - they were so bad they were booed off stage (and rightly so). :x

Beka, thats really funny but also really serious. But the idae of the band setting fire to their fans and then the fans trying to beat them up is hilarious.

I'll lend you my binoculars, after I've done with them...

I'm off to see Evanescence at Sheffield Arena on the 20th (my birthday in case anyone is interested) and the seats where me & my mates will be are right at the back too. :(

I hate sitting down when bands are playing, I much prefer to be up at the front in a good mosh pit (not that there'll be much moshing at Evanescence I think).

A few years back, I saw Soul Coughing at The Fabulous Satellite Lounge, here in Houston. That was one of my most favorite shows I've ever seen!

Linkin Park at Buzzfest 3 years ago was also a kick-... butt show!

  • 4 weeks later...

best was electric 6 in madison not to long ago. there was a lot of energy and they had really good showmanship; they were really funny (in a geeky sort of way) and you could tell they were having a lot of fun. if you ever get the chance to see 'em play, i highly recomend it. i saw incubus a year or so ago too an they were really good, but it kinda' seemed like they didn't wanna' be there

the worst was this band i saw called wet set. they were absolutely terrible. most of them could barely play there instruments. that was the only time i've ever walked out on a concert.

Best: None, my first concert WOULD have been Switchfoot, but my stupid friends didn't let me know about it soon enough.

Worst: Gustav Holst's Nine Planest performed by some Colorado Philharmonic Orchestra or something. The music was great, I have the CD for it. The part I couldn't stand was sitting in the same position for 2 hours (that's what it seemed like, at least). I couldn't stand the person I was going with but it was a polite offer so I didn't have the guts to refuse. Then, after it was over, my friend and his father mixed up among a few friends of theirs and created a little social circle where they talked about world peace, politics (which I don't mind, unless the people conversing are completely ignorant of the subject matter) and spiritual enlightenment. Not to mention, they were a bunch of arrogant snobs that seemed to believe they belonged on the same level as Confucius and Socrates. But I fit in just fine, all I had to do was say, "well, I'm originally from Switzerland.." and from there it can leak into just about any topic of conversation.

Edit: Edit: Edit: Edit: ..I should really edit BEFORE I hit the Submit button.
