aefibird Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 My vote is that it isn't worth the money. I once bought a £12 Shock Doctor mouthguard and it was worse than the £2 mouthguard that I'd had previously. The Shock Doctor was ill-fitting: no matter how many times I tried to get it to fit it just wouldn't stay put. I've since had my own custom-made mouthguard done for me by my dentist. Sridhar Posted November 1, 2004 Posted November 1, 2004 we don't wear any kinds of guards or protection while sparring not even guard or gloves but ur wearing glasses so i prefer u to wear goggles use guard for groin
krunchyfrogg Posted November 2, 2004 Posted November 2, 2004 I don't wear anything myself, but I had to buy a mouthguard for a tournament. It cost me 99 cents. It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but I never imagined putting a piece of plastic into my mouth would be. Karategurl Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 I love sparring... i find it a great way to realese the built up anger and fustration in your life. However when you do spar you do it with respect always for your fellow karateka. What i wear when sparring or what we are required to wear, is a foam padded head, hand/wrists, foot, shin, and mouth guard. Sometimes, depending on who you are sparring, you might need the torso padding. Especially against those big scary guys, lol. Anyways its good to be safe than sorry. YA KNOW?? Hurt rather than injure,Injure rather than maim,Maim rather than kill, kill rather than be killed...
matbla Posted January 9, 2005 Author Posted January 9, 2005 thanks for your all reply keep it going it does get rid of anger still give me hints on sparring (tips) from matt blake at matbla@capital.net
1st KYU Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 I also wear glasses. I always try to remember to put contacts in for sparring. If I forget, then I have to spar without glasses on, and then I get hit! why? i have horrible vision and i spar without glass, like if i were to stand 5 feet from you it would be hard to tell what you look like without my glasses on. yeah, i were a Mikado Gi its the best in my opinion.
