Mart
Yeah i would still spend as much time doing MT but add Aikido or Silat, maybe both!!! Im going towards Aikido at the moment because it wont conflict as much with the striking and as someone posted earlier it is good prefight, when people are pushing etc. Seize the day! Fat Donkey
Well, I took the Aikido and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and thought it looked cool. But I preferred Hapkido which basically has no real uniform and Included biting, broken bottles etc. A lot more practical than Aikido. You're right about the pre-fight stuff though. I was really impressed by the way aikido practitioners were able to close distances and step past attacks. A useful skill in any martial art. I think u should take it. The breathing exercises are excellent. An MT guy would probably still kick Aikido butt, but i think it would be really useful for situations when u don't want to break their face with your knee. (hence avoiding painful litigation.) Donkey

Thuggish
personally, i like muay thai because of how hard it is. i want the pure, raw, *-kicking power. anything else i train in has to be the same way- bjj wrestling etc... i want that hardcore effective demolish your oponent stuff, none of that soft art idealistic stuff. a broken arm throws no punches
Mart
I understand and agree to a large extent but i would have a hard time kicking the cr@p out of some 18 year old drunk who wants a fight and wont back down but is in all fairness a nice guy otherwise. If i could deal with it more gently i would. I have had enough knees and elbows to myself and sparred so damned hard for so long now that i really have no interest in hurting others unless its needed. Seize the day! wolfman
I train in Pencack Silat. But our Silat has a little more chinese flavor than normal. So we probably can't call it Pencack Silat any more. The school is in Tampa Fl so if your near there come by, or check out the website at https://www.clearsilat.com

Fat Donkey
Yeah Thuggish, here in Canada it's almost worst to win the fight than to lose. If the cops judge that u hit the guy more than necessay for self defense then they charge u with assault. Also the jerk can sue u. It good to have a style where u can control the guy without leaving (visible) damage. Donkey
