I think the russians are more fond of pick ups and leg locks than the japanese, but both are awesome styles. I don't know a whole lot about sambo, but one of my judo coaches also competes internationally in sambo, so I can ask him, if you want.

Both good, Sambo is proabably a little more "combat" oriented than the Modern day Judo most people are used too. Although Sambo is a sport aswell.

They're both close to the same thing (sportive wise) with absolute victory attained by a perfect throw. Pinning applies in both, however, unlike Judo, guard does not stop a pin in Sambo. As far as subs go, chokes and locks at the elbow joint in Judo, and knee/footlocks in sambo (no chokes).

Combat Sambo, however, has a wider range of submissions, including chokes.

Because of international competitions judo and sambo are so closely intertwined now that you would be hard pressed to find a judoka who doesn't know some sambo and a samboist who doesn't know some judo.

I'm only going to ask you once...

Sambo could be more effective in a street fight but if samboka (dont know if that word excists) would fight against Judoka, judoka would win

What hurts you but doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

It's not a lock that a judoka would win. I think the average Samboist is better on the ground then the average judoka. They have a stronger juji gatame IMO and those devasting leglocks. But as I said before the two arts are so intertwined that you would be hard pressed to find an old school judoka who doesn't know some sambo. Hint... hint :brow:
