How often do you do pad work in your dojo, if you do it at all?

Right now, every class. This is because Canadian's are next weekand so we are concentrating on fight training. Normally though I would say at least once a week we do pad work.

We do thai pads once a week as well, wasn't sure what othe dojo's were doing.

Every week in my instructors freestyle self defence class. Roughly once a week in karate lesson, but it depends on what we're doing and working on that week.

Good luck for the Canadian's, Dijita - are you entering or is it just others from your dojo?

We try to do pad work at least once a week, usually Wednesday's are reserved just for Kumite or fitness.

In my lessons: About one week in every 5/6 weeks

In my senior's lessons: Never

Pad work is something I think is very important for developing useful techniques... I think everybody falls backwards or 'bounces off' when hitting a pad or bag for the first time... I know I did

We use a thick pad for power (adults only - dont want damaged joints etc for the kids!) and focus mits for accuracy (all students).

Thanks! :) Yes I am competing. I am very nervous.... but I have trained very hard. If I can stay calm I will do well.

Sorry Fat Donkey, tournement is at UBC in Vancouver. Though if you want to see a Kyokushin tournement I'll let you know when there is one in Alberta. Though it probably won't be for a long time.

Mart, I'm a girl :)
