SevenStar
the kicking he preferred was more influenced by savate and muay thai the grappling is more judo based than anything, from what I've seen in the manual. I have a marine friend who is in the MACMAP program, and his grappling is also judo-like. they learn some bjj also.
ZR440
Not all Army SF goes thru the same training. My friend, a Chief Warrant Officer, told me the 1st Group probably trains in FMA because that's their region of the world. My friend's group does not cover any specific MA. They go to some classes or hire somebody to instruct on occasion. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
Ravencroft
There is actually a lot of truth there. they usually do train ahead of time to whatever their mission pertains to. but the combat course i know for a fact is the same for all Green Berets. i cant speak for the marines but i do know that the greenies go thru a 6 week course during their long 18 months of training for MA. as for the other stuff like he said it pertains to their mission or region of the world. ZR440
They don't really train in hand to hand combat before a mission as much as you might think. They cover the mission itself, logistics, the culture of the area, etc. My friend helps plan the missions so I kinda get the inside scoop, except for where they go and what the purpose really is. That's confidential. It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
