G95champ
Thats pretty simple the anser is Giin and Wankan. Because they were left out of the best karate series anyhow. I personally love both of them. I like Giin better than Jittie and Jion. I also find Wankan very fun. Although they are not in the best karate series I think they both LOOK like Shotokan kata. With that said the one I don't think of as being shotokan is Gankanku. However I think he holds a very special place because of the lack of focus on balance and one legged techinques in the style. But I do think it is the ugly ducklying kata. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory." Killer Miller
How can you say that G59... Gankaku was my favorite Kata - Always did that Kata as my primary in tourneys. My feeling are so hurt. This Kata was so Shotokan to me... I'm soooo depressed now! GreatSeekerofTruth
hah. A quintisential shotokan kata. as they're mostly abused by the 50's/60's masters to look good in competition - who cares. kanku dai is probably the most shuri te - but god what they did to it. Not dead yet. I just havent showered after training

Killer Miller
I did for a long time too... It was a difficult Kata to master. Keeping stability while doing it, and still maintaining speed and power was tough! - Killer Miller -KM - I like Gankanku but Gosh I suck at it. LOL. G95champ
KM did or does Gankanku hurt your ankles??? It kills mine. I think its the turns you do on one foot like at the end. I don't know. I like the flow when I keep my balance its very pretty but dude it whips me lol. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Sho-ju
Sochin has many root shotokan ideas held in it's form, even if we don't use the stance that often.
