G95champ
There is a few things to look at. 1. Your not as good as you think you are. Sorry but we sometimes get false impressions of ourselves. Its hard to step back and view oursleves. The reason I say this is because if you have time in class to watch others and see how good or bad they are then you are not giving it your all. FOCUS!!!! 2. Yeah he may have his picks but thats his right. Some people IMO do get ranks and should get ranks even if they are not a athlete. Brains and Knowledge make up for lack of ability at times I do think. 3. As many have said maybe he is just pushing you are testing you to see if you will break. Your greatest lessons are learned not when you pass but when you fail..... Remember that..... 4. Bottom line its his class. I think he SHOULD set down with each student after a test and tell them whats good and bad and so on but at the same time he is the teacher and he had the right to give any grade he sees fit and as long as you pay to take the class you dont have any right to question that but he prob. knows more than you do thus is why he is teaching. Again don't take anything I said the wrong way but sometimes people post nice excuses Im just trying to toss up other ideas. Good luck in your training. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
ramymensa
If the fact with the camp is REAL, you could considerr getting to another club. It's not how it should be. And you could do better with a serious instructor. World Shotokan Karate
Coco
He probably is giving you low grades because he KNOWS your good, but he thinks your not pushing yourself enough, so if he gives low grades, you would try to improve and get better.I dont think a sensei gives the grades to the people he likes best, it dosnt benefit him at all. If a McDojo sensei gives the best grades to the people with the most money then it certainly would benefit him... Generally McDojo-types tend to like best the students with the most ££££. I had a chance to discuss this with another mate which is now blue belt. He has been thru the exact same thing. He is a very good practitionner. He told me that the grades were mostly having to do with potential than an actual comparison with other mates. He believes the reason why the results cannot be discussed is because it is meant that way. It is meant to provide a look at yourself. The camp thing might just be a coincidence...
