Dijita
At class yesterday, we did this self defense technique where you striked the middle of the bicep of the person punching you. I could not believe how much pain came from even a weak shot to the bicep! I want to learn to master this move to use in tournements. I think it could be very effective if you practice at getting good at quickly side stepping the punch and striking the bicep. Think about it. One good shot, maybe two to the bicep would probably deaden your opponents arm preety quick, which would result in weak strikes coming from them. On top of it, I bet you they would start lowering their hands because of the fatique and pain in their arm. Once the hand is lowered, you can kick the head and score a point. Thoughts? Rich_2k3
What hand technique did use? ie. fist, knife-hand etc. "When my enemy contracts I expand and when he expands I contract" - Bruce Lee
Dijita
Yesterday, we were using a knife hand... though Sempai said that we could also use a fist and it would also be effective.
JerryLove
I like the use of the knuckles as they will hurt most anything in the region... nothing like a good guntang. https://www.clearsilat.com
TheDevilAside
..that doesn't hurt that bad. I doubt one shot would disable your opponent, unless he is a huge whimp. Ironberg
I got punched in the bicept once - it can hurt. However, it will not dissable your opponent. Shorinryu Sensei
Try getting a partner, and lightly roundhouse the outside of their leg half way between the hip and the knee. Great fun. Abit like that? Lightly? HRMPH! That's called (by Okinawan systems) kotoate drills (pardon if misspelled..never sure about that) Kicking the outside, AND the inside of the leg gets you used to the impact. Two people that have done a lot of it can really smack the heck out of each other without a lot of damage. My nightly prayer..."Please, just let me win that PowerBall Jackpot just once. May work well in competition, but as for self defence it has limited application.
