Yup! It's a cool little technique (and it 'tans' if your partner yanks it on too hard).

This one I make sure not to finish. It doesn't take much to "pop" the elbow.

I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.

ducky,

this shoulder throw is used in jujutsu and judo. The jujutsu variant has the palm up and the hip rotation is stopped short so the person being thrown lands on their head. The judo version has the palm turned in or down and there is follow through so that the person thrown lands on their back.

How would the juijutsu version be practiced without breaking your partner's arm?

you can't. That's why Kano took it and modified it to the judo form so that it could be practiced safely.

But dont ju jitsu players practice it in the same way as judo players?

The move is also foudn by accident if you try the round-shoulder throws seen in Heian Sandan (among others) wiht someone too short - harmless-ish throw becomes arm breaking technique :D

if you want to practise it, learn the system of tapping out when you feel a lock or choke - you partner taps you when they feel it and you immediately release.
