SevenStar
The way to gain strength is through strength training. However, you can't get inumanly strong. Just as humans can't tap into their full brain power, they can't tap into full muscle power. strength is really just a measurement of how hard of a contraction your neuromuscular system can produce, but we cannot make them contract to their fullest capabilty. aefibird
...but if you wanna have a good go at trying to tap into that full muscle power then you're gonna need to do some serious strength training as well as having a high protien diet. Red Triangle student
If you are not careful you may become muscle bound, this is were your body becomes so full of muscles that you cant use most of them. I think the best way is to just do the normal exercise routines that are the most basic, yes boring, but effective. Ironberg
I would imagine all kinds of pushups - even the ones where your feet are elevated on a chair. There are plenty of abdominal calisthenics. Etc. However, you can still lift weights and not be muscle bound, in my opinion. Are any of them Arnold Schwartzenagers size? No not really....maybe a few. Bruce Lee stressed that all martial artists should use modern workout methods. He lifted heavy, and in fact injured his back doing so. Ironberg
Bruce Lee was stronger than most men twice his size. He did lift weights. You don't need to lift weights to be a good martial artist - but if you want to be among the best I believe you do.
