Agreed Sauzin. Also, there is not a 10th of the striking power in the techniques he demonstrates as compared to good technique. Twice I've taken nunchauku away from people that were screwing with me with them. They both hit my arms as I reached in. Sure, it hurt a bit and left a small bruise, but if they'd have been using good technique:

1. I wouldn't have done it, and

2. It could have broken a bone on my arm.

I think you have a misperception about freestylists and their supposed inability to use nunchaku as a weapon. I would consider myself a freestylist ande the spinning and aeriel techniques are the most challanging in my opinion, but I dont think you would want any part of trying to take the nunchaku away from me freestylist or not

I mean if I were screwing with you

Just to make sure you understand where I'm coming from here, the nunchaku is a weapon. Like any weapon, they have limitations and weaknesses in their movements. I would deal with an attacker with nunchaku as i would deal with an attacker with any other weapon, and that is using their limitations and weaknesses against them. They are not invincible and don't strike terror in my heart when I see someone using them (unless they're using them really BADLY!) I don't fear them any more than I fear a bo, sai, baseball bat, or gun. I have respect for them and what they are capable of doing, but I don't fear them because I understand them. So, freestyle, or traditional, if you confronted me with the nunchaku and threatened me with them, I would respond to the best of my abilities in defending myself against them.

Shorinryu Sensei:

I went back and read the things I've been saying and I was ashamed of myself. I overreacted and do apologize. My instructor would have me doing push-ups till I puked if he saw the way I've been bickering.

I don't want to come across that way, believe me, I'm actually a rather nice guy. We have a difference of opinion, that's all.

peace, truce, all that good stuff :)

good luck with your class.

my offer still stands- come see what we're all about if you feel like it: http://doubledna.com/freestyle.

Seriously, you're invited to visit.

Thank you Patrick. I don't sweat the small things of life...there's to many big ones to worry about! We each have chosen our own paths and which way we want to go.

Peace bro. :karate:

Shorinryu Sensei, you're a grandmaster at the art, I presume? You should know better than attacking Pat Gresham, who's only goal is to help people out who like to learn some nunchaku basics. Obviously you lack the balance in your life to respect others and the things they do, which will only lead to stagnation of your own mental growth...

Next to that, I think Pat Gresham has done marvelous in obtaining the knowledge of nunchaku and therefore think your comments don't make any sense. And remember: not any technique has to look according to any given standard, it's the proces of self-development that counts.

I think you're a bit late. The whole matter has been resolved already...please read all the posts to see the answers to your statements.
