sansoouser Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 Do any of you do traditional kung fu training? Like all the stances and things, balancing on the high poles or hand stand type things. I say a monk doing a handstand once, but he was just on one finger and a guy next to him on 2 The amateur shoots his hands out ferociously, but lacks any true power. A master is not so flamboyant, but his touch is as heavy as a mountain.
delta1 Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 We used to stack cinder blocks on end, climb up and do drills. Also, stand blocks around the floor and spar, moving only block to block. I think most arts do some kind of stance training- even some of the short reality courses do stance and footwork drills for warm up and exercise. Freedom isn't free!
Red J Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 We used to stack cinder blocks on end, climb up and do drills. We did basics on bricks today, stacked 2 high. Oh, and the bricks were turned sideways. We have also done the sparring drills with the bricks lengthways. Of course that doesn't hold a candle to a one fingered handstand. I had to lose my mind to come to my senses.
