Kickbutt Posted November 19, 2001 Posted November 19, 2001 Well, first off I'd like to say that I'm glad as hell that the Taliban are retreating and that Afghani women will be able to have some of their freedom restored - my happiness is however tempered with sadness for the women who waited so long for this and for whom this is too little too late - they have been repressed for so long and have had so many atrocities committed against them that I fear many of them will carry their emotional scars for life. As for the Northern Alliance - these people aren't really a helluva lot better than the Taliban as far as their treatment of women, so let's not start jumping for joy in the streets just yet - let's hope that the U.N manages to help assemble a relatively democratic government so that they can start to at least move in the right direction. kicker Posted November 28, 2001 Posted November 28, 2001 yes thats true lets not put our hopes up yet they could come back later if the usa gets out of those cities the USA has to be careful in what the do one wrond step and it might kill some iniceint people when you do your best it`s going to show. Zaknafein Posted December 1, 2001 Posted December 1, 2001 The US and its allies came onto Afghan soil, killed a some Afghan innocents, and for what? Justice? I think that we owe it to those people over their to help put a democratic government in power. This means not letting the Northern Alliance gain absolute control over the country like they seem to be doing right now. I hope the Allies wont just be like 'yeah, the Taliban are kicked out, so those people are free because the Northern Alliance are good people'. Zak the Compasionate (spelling?) Karateka Posted December 1, 2001 Posted December 1, 2001 Get rid of one tyrant dictatorship for another? Does anyone know what the Northern Alliance is going to do when they get into power? I can tell you what everyone else has done in the past. Either mess up, or impliment their own laws which are pretty bad in themselves. Charles the First of England was a man who belived in the Divine Right of Kings. He was ousted and killed, then entered the Lord Protector Cromwell. He implimented the Blue Laws until he died. History repeats itself. "Never hit a man while he's down; kick him, its easier"Sensei Ron Bagley (My Sensei)
