Hi all,

I passed my Yellow Belt II stripe Grading last night. Yeh Ha!!! :D

Grading consisted of the following in order:

1-20 in Japanese and 15 Japanese words

The following Basic Techniques in Slow and Hard/Fast execution

- Upper Block

- Stepping Punch

- Front Kick

- Middle Outer Block

- Roundhouse Kick

- Middle Inner Block

- Sidekick

- Lower Block

Heian Neidan and Heian Shodan Kata's

Has anyone done a yellow 9th or 8th Kyu gading recently and what was involved. :karate:

Congratulations!

Yes, as amatter of fact, I tested on of my students, a 15 yr old young man, just this past Thursday for his yellow belt.

This is what I test on:

Proper Stance's

inside block

outside block

high block

low block

hand block

front snap kick

roundhouse kick

side kick

back kick

shin kick

stomp kick

reverse punch

back fist

Kata Pinan Shodan

Light Contact Sparring

He did VERY well, but then again, his father is my 2nd Dan Senior student too! lol I never look for perfection, especially at this level, but rather competency. The same with power. At this level, I look for good technique, not power. Power will come.

Aiming for purple belt next. This is where training really starts to heat up apparently.

Well done ! :karate:

I've got my orange belt (8th kyu) grading next Sunday and am quite nervous, but quite excited too :) . We have to do heian shodan and nidan, lots of basic techniques and simple two part combinations, and gohan kumite. There's about five of us taking the grading at that level, and we're all good friends so it shouldn't be too scary I hope!
