Dijita Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 I'm not sure if this has ever been posted, but I was curious as to what the belt progression is in the art that you are studying. So please post your style, followed by the progression. Kyokushin White Orange Blue Yellow Green Brown Black There's one stripe inbetween each belt level except white.

Master Jules Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 It really comes down to what the sensei wants. Regardless of colors of belts, the progression in karate is from 10th hyu (white belt) to shodan......There are many ways to "fit" different color belts in there.....Some goju schools, for example simply go.....white, green, brown and black, with stripes in between.....As a former dojo owner, I used the yellow and orange belt as well......for students that havent been training very long, its sometimes tough for them to understand that, even though theyve been wearing , say, a white belt for 6 months or so.....they have learned a lot more than a new white belt, even though their belt doesnt "show it".......My rankings went as follows.... 10 th kyu....white belt 9th kyu....white /1 stripe 8th kyu.....yellow 7th ho....yellow w/1stripe 7th kyu....orange w/1 stripe 6th kyu....orange w/2 stripes 5th ho......orange w/3 stripes 5th kyu......green w/1 stripe 4th kyu.....green w/2 stripes 4th ho.....green w/3 stripes 3rd kyu.....brown w/1 stripe 2nd kyu.....brown w/2 stripes 1st kyu.....brown w/3 stripes black....shodan ho (conditional black belt) black......shodan and so on...... ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
