ESA-Shotokan Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 I passed!! How cool is that? Onwards and upwards...
Master Jules Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Congratulations........you have finally reached the beginning. Enjoy the journey. ~Master Jules......aka "The Sandman""I may be a trained killer......but Im really a nice guy"
aefibird Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 Congratulations! What was the grading like? "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
ESA-Shotokan Posted March 24, 2004 Author Posted March 24, 2004 Grading went well in that I only had to do the kumite. I was happy that the man I partnered also passed his shodan, as I landed a hard yoko-geri to his ribs during the freestyle element. A good result after a long, long day. There were about 60 people grading in total, so you can imagine how long it went for when it was 6 to 8 people at a time! Just two years until Nidan...
aefibird Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 Wow, that's certainly a lot grading! I'm glad it went well for you. Did your knee hold up alright? "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." The Beautiful South - The Rose of My CologneSheffield Steelers!
wado_lee Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 nice one well done theres no one style just your style---------
ESA-Shotokan Posted March 24, 2004 Author Posted March 24, 2004 Yeah the knee is 100% now. It was nice to return to training on Monday and Tuesday and do Nijushiho and the Unsu - yes, very advanced kata but a nice change from Bassai Dai!!!
Gloi Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Congratulations! What proportion of the candidates passed this time? I'm hopefully taking my KUGB shodan later this year. My sensei wants me to go to Kendal in June but I want to put it off till later in the year, perhaps at the summer school.
ramymensa Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 It's very cool. We're happy for you. You've been rewarded for your hard work and instead of just staying and enjoying your success you'll have to work even harder. But that's all the fun in training. World Shotokan Karate
